Samsung Hints New Foldable Smartphone Concept at SDC19

01 Nov 2019
Samsung Electronics has teased tech-savvy fans all over the world by disclosing a glance of the new concept for the company's upcoming foldable smartphones. The tech giant introduced the new concept for its foldable smartphone during ''Samsung Developer Conference 2019'' (SDC2019) held at San Hose Convention Center in California on Tuesday, about one month after the company's first foldable smartphone ''Galaxy Fold'' reach the shelves in South Korea on September 6 this year.

Samsung had formerly prepared for the global release of Galaxy Fold in April this year but owing to a few technical issues such as for example display hinge malfunctions and damages caused to the phone's display after some reviewers tried to remove the display's protective film layer, the company delayed the launch till September.

When the ambitious brainchild of Samsung was finally released, tech-savvy consumers around the world responded positively. Consumers noticed the 7.3-inch foldable display very attractive and very useful. While Galaxy Fold actually folds out like a book to turn into a tablet PC with a 7.3-inch display, the new form factor showed a special concept of folding in half like a folder-type mobile phone that was popular in the 1990s.

The concept video hinted at precisely how the new foldable smartphone design could be used in real life situations. The phone could be bent to an L-shape so that it can be placed stably on a surface by itself while a user films video using the phone's front-facing camera.

Samsung didn't expose whether the company's next foldable smartphone will be designed similarly to the one shown in the teaser video. But, the company said that it will continue to work with new form factors for its foldable smartphones with hundreds of developers and partners to inspire people with new user experiences.
